We are a non-profit dedicated to accelerating research on the mind and brain by developing research tools that directly address the needs of patients and participants.
What we do
We develop state-of-the art, digital, open source tools to: (1) assess cognition and brain health and (2) deliver results directly to participants.
We develop web-based, mobile-ready tests of cognition based on the latest research in psychology and neuroscience. These tests are validated using data from tens of thousands of volunteers.
We develop open science tools, data, and software that anyone can use to understand brain health, regardless of their personal or institutional resources. These include software for administering cognitive tests and normative samples for interpreting test scores.
We drive engagement by delivering results directly back to patients, students, and research participants through the citizen science research platform, TestMyBrain.org. More than 2.3 million volunteers have been tested through TestMyBrain.org.
Custom Research Platforms
We work with researchers, educators, and organizations to create custom platforms and testing tools that can be used in large-scale projects and research studies that align with our mission. Our software powers cognitive data collection at nearly 200 sites worldwide.
Our Unique Approach to Test Development
Our cognitive test development is driven by a steady stream of volunteers and citizen scientists to the research platform, TestMyBrain.org (about 1000 new participants per day). This citizen science engine lets us develop cognitive tests with some useful characteristics.
All of our tests are:
Normed and validated based on large, diverse samples (N = 5,000 to 100,000 per test).
Optimized for assessment with unsupervised, remotely-tested participants.
Vetted by the volunteers themselves for engagement, clarity, and personal relevance.
Broadly compatible across devices and platforms, including smartphones and tablets.
